What to Expect

When you arrive for your appointment, we’ll review your health history and explain how nitrous oxide works. A small, comfortable mask will be placed over your nose, and you’ll breathe in the odorless gas. Within minutes, you’ll begin to feel calm, light, and at ease. Some patients describe it as a warm or floating sensation.

You’ll remain fully awake and able to respond, but your anxiety will diminish. Once your treatment is complete, we’ll remove the mask and let you breathe regular oxygen for a few minutes. The effects wear off quickly, so you can safely drive yourself home and continue with your day as normal.
