What to Expect During an Emergency Visit

When you arrive at Mateo Dental for an emergency, our first priority is to relieve your pain and assess the issue quickly. Here’s what your visit may include:

Urgent Evaluation: We’ll begin with a focused exam, including X-rays if needed, to identify the source of the problem.

Immediate Pain Relief: If you’re in pain, we’ll numb the area or prescribe appropriate medication to help you feel better fast.

Treatment or Temporary Fix: Whenever possible, we’ll treat the issue the same day. If a full restoration (like a crown) is needed, we’ll provide a temporary solution and schedule follow-up care.

Specialist Referral (If Needed): For complex cases, we refer you to trusted specialists located right in our building—saving you time and hassle.

FAQ

  • What situations count as a dental emergency?

Severe tooth pain, swelling, broken or knocked-out teeth, bleeding, and infections all qualify as dental emergencies. Don’t wait to call.

  • Can I get a same-day appointment for an emergency?

Yes, we leave space in our schedule for urgent cases. Call us right away, and we’ll do everything we can to see you the same day.

  • What should I do if a tooth is knocked out before I reach the dentist?

Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root. Gently rinse it, place it in milk or your mouth (if possible), and get to our office immediately.
